🧪 Instructions for Using the Celquest Dilution Tool™
(Required when completing Page #3 of the Donor Delivery Record Form)
✅ When to Use This Tool
You must use the Celquest Dilution Tool™ if either of the following conditions occurred before the maternal blood draw:
-
The patient received blood products
(e.g., whole blood, packed red blood cells, plasma, or platelets) within the past 48 hours, OR -
The patient received more than 2000 mL of IV fluids
(e.g., Saline or Lactated Ringer’s) within 1 hour
⚠️ If either condition applies, plasma dilution must be calculated to determine if the maternal blood sample is valid.
🧭 How to Use the Tool
1. Enter Volumes Received
Input the total amount (in milliliters) the patient received in each of the following categories:
-
Blood Products
-
Colloids (e.g., albumin, hetastarch)
-
Crystalloids (e.g., IV fluids like saline or LR)
💡 If nothing was received in a category, enter “0” to continue.
2. Click “Next”
If the tool prompts you, enter the patient's weight in pounds (lbs).
3. Review the Results
Once calculated, you will see the sample acceptability displayed in color-coded format:
-
🟢 GREEN = Acceptable Sample
(You may proceed with the existing blood draw.) -
🔴 RED = Unacceptable Sample
(A new blood draw may be necessary. Follow Celquest protocol.)
